VillaGok brick oven
In the autumn 2004 I carelessly promised my wife to build a brick oven, but I didn’t really look into the subject before early April 2005. At that time I realised that I had undertaken a project of some size!
The oven is now finished and the following pages show how I have tackled the building details. The oven is based on a design by Rado Hand. The oven room is almost identical to that of a 32" x 36" Alan Scott oven, although the firebrick layout is a little different.
The oven was ready to cook the first pizzas in august 2005 and completely finished in the spring 2006!
After covering the chimney with a brick arch, there was nothing left to do except for some needed changes in the area around the oven (this is still not done... :-) But I have built a tandoor oven next to the brick oven!
